Patterns

BACKGROUND

Patterns is a set of two puzzles based on special geometric shapes.
The puzzles have entertained people for years.
The names of these puzzle sets are Tangrams, and Plates of Wisdom.

OBJECT OF THE PUZZLES

The object of these puzzles is to form patterns using all of the pieces in the puzzle.

HOW TO PLAY

Select a pattern from the Patterns menu by choosing Select. To move a piece, left-click on one of the blue pieces and drag it to the desired location.
You may manipulate the pieces by selecting Rotate(+/-) and Flip Piece from the Options menu. Rotate(+/-) moves the selected piece in a circular motion around its center-point. Flip Piece moves the selected piece by mirroring it around a point.You must left-click on a piece to select it. Rotate the pieces into position by clicking the right button, by clicking on Rotate(+/-) on the menu bar, or by pressing the +/- keys on the keyboard.
Only the currently selected piece will be affected by the Rotate(+/-) and Flip Piece commands.
You may adjust the degree of rotation using the Options menu.
You may select either 15 Degrees or 45 Degrees.
Move each piece this way, clicking, dragging, and rearranging until you duplicate the given pattern.

RULES

You must use all of the pieces.
There can be more than one solution to many of the puzzles.

HINTS AND STRATEGIES

You can check your solution by selecting "Solution?" from the Pattern menu.
